We get it, swimming is far from your mind after the water parks and outdoor pools close for the summer. However, you could be making a crucial mistake when it comes to swimming.
Here are some reasons why...
If your child is a beginner and you just enrolled them into swimming lessons over the summer they need to continue practicing their skills to build their endurance. If they have no experience, Winter is still the best time to start!
After Summer is over there are about 8-9 months where they are out of the water, doing other things. What do you think happens when you place them back in the pool? By that time they forgot what they learned and are not as strong of a swimmer as they were when they finished their last set of lessons. Let’s not even talk about the money spent with group lessons and/or private lessons.
Swimming during the winter will keep them in great shape and also provide another option outside of the usual Basketball, Volleyball, and Football sports. Swimming is a great complementary sport as well if it is not their main focus.
Swimming lessons for kids during the winter is more structured, with less crowds, which allows for better focus. Unlike Summer, where all they want to do is play with everyone within arms reach and get back outside.
This next why may have already crossed your mind. You enrolled your child in swim lessons with hopes to turning them into a competitive swimmer. Winter is where it matters most. With our competitive swim background, we know Winter swimming is where champions are made. Winter swimming is the season where school based teams and club teams compete, major swim meets occur, and much more.
Now if you feel your child is not ready to compete sign them up for private swim lessons until the next season starts. Make the investment to achieve this goal and watch them flourish.
